Jessica Larsen writes words.
Sometimes in books. Sometimes on websites. Sometimes on the back of the napkin that came with her breakfast burrito.
I spent the first few decades of my life doing what I thought I “should” be doing... Which is how I found myself studying law and media at uni, despite not having much interest in it.
I graduated (with honours) and got myself a "proper" job. Then, after one month working in legislative policy (which was exactly as boring as it sounds), I finally admitted to myself I was on the wrong path and promptly began plotting my escape.
After a year of planning, brainstorming, and saving my ass off, I cut free from my corporate cubicle and never looked back, setting up shop as a freelance copywriter, editor and ghostwriter.
That was nine years ago. Since then (there's no way to avoid sounding wanky here, so prepare yourself) I’ve written hundreds of high converting websites. I’ve crafted sales pages and sales emails that have resulted in multiple hundo-thundo launches. And I've helped my clients bring a heap of books into the world — including five books with major publishers like Penguin RandomHouse, HarperCollins, and Audible (two of which are legit bestsellers).
Brisbane, Australia, with my husband and daughter.
Audiobooks, kombucha, long walks, sheet masks.
Mainlining coffee, buying houseplants, and wearing two-day old yoga pants
I rolled out of bed, made porridge for my daughter, and explained to her (for the 374th time) that crayons aren't for eating.
From “following the rules”, to writing my own.
(Just to balance it out, I’ve also been called a ‘poop-head’ by my daughter, and a ‘regular’ by the guy at the bottle shop.)
Poop and pinot aside, if it would feel like a miracle right now to have your book fully realised, you're in the right place. And I’m so glad you’re here...
There is so much that I don’t know.
Like how to keep houseplants alive and how to not eat the whole block of chocolate, for starters.
But there’s one thing I do know with absolute certainty:
life is too short to not do the work you were put on this planet to do.
So...
I'm here to help you do that.
If there’s a book inside you, I want to help you get it out of your head and
If there’s art in your heart, demanding to be made, I want to inspire you
And if you’ve got something to say, I want to help you
